EXIT / EXHIBITION (2020–2021)

The first Belgian retrospective dedicated to the work of Kris Martin, organised by S.M.A.K. in Ghent. I coordinated production and communication from the artist’s side, in collaboration with the museum and its partners.

EXIT / CATALOGUE (2020)

The catalogue for the exhibition, published at MER/B&L. I wrote the short texts on each work. Instead of resorting to your typical artspeak, I believe in giving the reader a key and leaving the poetry to the art (and the imagination). ⠀

ROMANTIC ACTIVITY / GALLERY SHOW (2020)

A show with works by Stand Van Zaken (DOORZON interior architects + Theo De Meyer) and Stefanie De Vos at Casa Argentaurum in Ghent. The name was based on a dubious translation of a text about Studio Alchimia. I initiated and curated the show with Moniek Bucquoye.

A CLUBBING SKY / PUBLICATION (2020)

A clubbing sky contains a selection of Guy Slabbinck’s work. I collaborated with the artist in getting this publication ready in a short time frame. I acted as a soundboard, helped to think out the concept, edited the source texts into the format of a continuous interview and assisted the artist with the selection of images. In collaboration with Jan & Randoald and Cedric Verhelst.

?DO GEESE SEE GOD? / GALLERY SHOW (2019)

First solo show for Kris Martin at Sean Kelly in New York, with a simultaneous exhibition at Saint Bavo’s Cathedral in Ghent. I coordinated production and communication (such as texts) for both venues of this show, in collaboration with the gallery and the artist.

ARTSHIZZLE / ARTs-BASED workshops & activities (2015–…)

Artshizzle connects people with art by means of workshops and other activities. I share this initiative with Rozemarijn De Keyser of Intervent. We work for MSK, S.M.A.K., DesignMuseum Gent and FOMU, among others.

ARRIère-pensée / ART space (2018–…)

Arrière-pensée is a place for art and experimentation. Artists, designers and architects are invited to show their work, without commercial or curatorial pressure. Doubt, creative freedom and embryonic ideas are allowed. Cedric Verhelst and I co-run this space, curating and mounting the exhibitions as a team.

AUGURI / exhibition (2016–2017)

In 2016, the Order of Preachers (better known as the Dominicans) celebrated 800 years of existence in 2016. For this festive year, they invited conceptual artist Kris Martin to show his works in the basilica and monastery of Santa Sabina in Rome. I organised and produced this solo show, curated by Jan Hoet Jr., in close collaboration with the Dominicans.

HOF VAN CLEVE / exhibition, TINE GUNS (2016)

Hof van Cleve is Belgium's no. 1 restaurant. It prides itself on bringing the best of Belgium to the plate. When Belgian artist Kris Martin proposed the idea to exhibit the work of Belgian artists in the restaurant, chef-proprietor Peter Goossens gave him carte blanche. All existing artworks were removed to make space for the works of Tine Guns. I took on the organisation and communication.

MYOSOTIS / ARTIST BOOK (2016)

Kris Martin was commissioned by Yvon Lambert to make a publication in his famous series Une rêverie émanée de mes loisirs. This limited edition of art books contains works by Giuseppe Penone, Lawrence Weiner, Anselm Kiefer and On Kawara, among others. The artist’s idea was to make a facsimile of an old Parisian telephone directory, putting a forget-me-not flower on the page mentioning Yvon Lambert. I sourced the original book and coordinated the production.

WIM GOES ARCHITECTUUR / website, www.janhoetplein.be

In 2005, Wim Goes Architectuur won the competition to design the square between Ghent's MSK and S.M.A.K.. This square had been a dream of the directors of both museums, the late Robert Hoozee and Jan Hoet, respectively. By 2017, the square still had not been realised. Wim Goes Architectuur wanted to keep the idea alive. I made a website that contains a history, description and simulations of the project.

PASS / exhibition (2015)

From May to July of 2015, curator Jan Hoet Jr. invited artists to four tiny villages in Flanders. The exhibition offered an interesting dialogue between contemporary art and the rural landscape. I was part of the organising committee, responsible for communication (website, press), graphic design and the production of the catalogue.

PASS / CATALOGUE (2015)

For the PASS exhibition, I coordinated the making of a catalogue and wrote many of the texts. The catalogue contains in situ pictures of all works. It was published by Borgerhoff & Lamberigts.

KRIS MARTIN / L'OFFICIEL ART

L'Officiel Art invited Kris Martin to present an overview of his work in the magazine. He was given carte blanche and developed a concept around the self-criticism of his most famous works. I took care of the selection of his works and the accompanying text.
